Dr Vijayasekaran is a qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who undertook his undergraduate and post graduate training in Perth. Following completion of this Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons he undertook an Advanced Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship awarded by the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. This enabled him to gain extensive experience in aesthetic surgery of the breast (breast augmentation, short scar breast reduction and breast lift techniques), body contouring surgery (abdominoplasty) and rhinoplasty. Vij was the first surgeon in Australia to complete the Advanced Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship.
Vij also undertook subspecialty training in cosmetic surgery, hand surgery and paediatric reconstructive surgery at several internationally renowned institutions in Melbourne, Australia and Toronto, Canada .
The post Fellowship training undertaken at these international institutions has allowed Vij to further develop his subspecialty interests in Aesthetic Surgery as well as Reconstructive Surgery. These Fellowships were undertaken under the internship of world renowned surgeons.

A Member of the Order of Australia (AM), Vij was recognized for providing medical expertise and assistance to the victims of the Bali bombings at Sanglah Hospital in Denpasar, Bali, 2002. He was also jointly awarded the Australian Newspaper’s “Australian of the Year” nominated by the Australian public and selected by the editorial committee for the Australian Newspapers.
Vij consults and operates at Royal Perth Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, St John of God Hospital Subiaco, Hollywood Private Hospital, Glengarry Private Hospital, Cambridge Day Surgery, Subiaco Day Surgery, Peel Health Campus and Osborne Park Hospital.

Vij is one of two cleft lip and palate surgeons at Princess Margaret Hospital for children and is actively involved in overseas surgical chartiy work.
Vij has undertaken research in a number of areas
of plastic surgery and has numerous publications in national and
international journals. In addition Vij has presented several papers at
international meetings.
