Skin Cancer Surgical Service
RAPID RESPONSE CLINICAL EXCELLENCE
At the Western Australian Plastic Surgery Centre (WAPSC) we have a team of 9 surgeons and are the largest group of Specialist Plastic Surgeons in Western Australia. All our surgeons are fellows of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. We offer consultations at St John of God Subiaco and St John of God Murdoch, as well as Waikiki, Dunsborough and Albany. We operate principally at SJOG Subiaco and West Leederville Private Hospital.
How Our Service Works
- We have surgeons operating DAILY with capacity to add skin cancer and lesion cases onto existing lists.
- We accept referrals either with or still requiring biopsy.
- We allocate patients to the next available surgeon.
Our Rapid Response
- Our triage team reviews all referrals SAME DAY.
- We contact all patients within 48 HOURS of referral.
- We CONSULT on all malignant and high-risk referrals within 2 weeks and other lesion referrals within 6 weeks.
- We OPERATE on an urgent basis for all malignant and high-risk referrals. We operate on benign lesions within 8 weeks of referral.

- PLEASE provide lesion images either by email or SMS (0448 019 651) when sending a referral. Please provide patient first name, surname initial and DOB with any lesion images.
Patient Costs
- Our surgeon consultation charge is $250.
- We charge patients AMA rates on skin cancer procedures and provide patients with a full fee quote including surgeon fees, private hospital charges and estimated out of pocket costs.
- We provide a 15% procedure fee discount to pensioners.
Patient Care
- All patients receive post-operative care in our nurse dressing clinic which operates 5 days a week.
- We do not provide a skin monitoring service and seek to refer all patients back to their primary care provider for on-going surveillance and follow-up as required.
- All referrers can access our triage nurse for urgent enquiries or patient follow-up by calling 1300 1WAPSC (1300 192 772)
